Magical Madikwe – Trip Report May 2019

Hello all

I am back in office for only 4.5 days before a walking adventure in the Makuleke concession, Northern Kruger this coming Saturday.

Before I go I would like to share some incredible moments captured during the two Madikwe Safaris I hosted this month. When I say two weeks, these were separate weeks of 5 guests on each & what an incredible time we had. The month of May is seen as the beginning of the dry season & so the watering holes were incredibly productive including the water hole right in front of our lodge, day & night. Our breakfast, lunch & dinner’s were often interrupted by elephant, white & black rhino, giraffe, zebra, kudu, wildebeest, brown & spotted hyena, or lion roaring in front of the lodge at 3am & so much more…

Madikwe Game Reserve is one of the lesser- known parks in South Africa making it a hidden- gem as it is regarded as one of the best conservation areas in Africa and offers the Big 5 in a 680 km2 park. One highlights when it comes to this phenomenal reserve apart from the mind blowing game viewing, is that it is a Malaria free area.

Further highlights are as follows;

  • Just 5 Guests
  • No set game drive times
  • Exclusive use of a 10 bed lodge
  • Accommodation on a single basis
  • The lodge overlooks a productive waterhole
  • Daily Lightroom sessions in-between drives
  • Opportunities to photograph the magnificent 7
  • Just 4 hours drive from JHB
  • Includes all meals, drinks, activities and photographic tuition

If the above, & what will be coming below is something that catches your eye; your in luck as we are currently running a very special rate for our Madikwe Safari in June 2019, so GET IN TOUCH before its too late!

Now; getting to what your really want to see, I first need to explain that I am all for filtering a large amount of images but spending two weeks is one of the most prolific wildlife areas made it quite tough.

Please feel free to look through the images below as they will give you a better feel for what we got to experience.
