All about the Tigers and Leopards of India.

    Overview

This incredibly exciting adventure gives you the opportunity to explore not only the most popular national park in India – Ranthambore – but also pay a hearty 6 night visit to the forests of Kabini, a sanctuary that the rarest big cat in the world calls home. The black panther of Kabini has made an incredible name for himself and this safari will have you spend 6 nights at Bison Lodge in Nagarhole National Park in an attempt to see & photograph him within one of the most spectacular & scenic regions to be found in the whole of India.

Before you reach Kabini though you’ll enjoy 4 nights in Ranthambore, home to one of the densest tiger populations in India. You’ll enjoy the privilege of full day permits & this will allow you to spend the entire day out in the park. It also allows you to traverse the entirety of the park without worrying about zone allocations. You’ll be enjoy the experience at your own leisure and can choose to have a packed lunch in the field, or to briefly head back to camp for something to eat before returning in the early afternoon. It’s the perfect way to experience Ranthambore.

In Ranthambore guests will be divided into 2 safari vehicles, and Marlon will alternate his time between these two vehicles.

You’ll find yourself in the perfect safari season too. January can be freezing but April can be extremely hot. By visiting in the latter half of February you tend to get a little bit of both. It’ll be cool but dry meaning less dense vegetation and active waterholes. This is exactly the conditions you are after when visiting India in search of tigers, leopards and more.

When you reach Kabini Shaaz Jung – a celebrated wildlife photographer – will join the safari. Shaaz & his family own the lodge we’ll be staying at and Shaaz’s intimate knowledge of not only the area but also of the black panther & his habits will prove invaluable to the experience as a whole. Shaaz and Marlon will guide that second portion of the safari in Kabini together and this sure will provide for a quality experience on all fronts.

It’s extremely difficult to get to Kabini on your own. The government controls the safaris that enter the park and private vehicles and intimate small groups are simply not possible. The group size on this tour will be a maximum of 7 so that we can secure our own private vehicle in Kabini ensuring that the experience will be allocated to Wild Eye’s guests only.

If you’re looking for a unique safari experience to India then you need not look any further. You’ll be in the company of expert guidance and you’ll be prepared to capture any of the exciting moments that’ll be sure to come your way.

Kabini is a highly sought after destination and much of this has to do with the special black panther calling the park home. It’s near impossible to gain access to the park in a private, smaller vehicle. The government has strict control of this and therefore we are all on one vehicle to ensure private park access for us in one vehicle.

We’ll enjoy full mornings and afternoons out in the field, and on some of the days will take packed meals with us for lunch.
