All about the South Luangwa and Mana Pools Safari.

Overview

A combination like no other. This safari solves the problem of wanting to experience something unique and adventurous as well as wanting the target rich (photographically speaking) environment of a vehicle-based safari in some of Africa’s most predator rich areas… the South Luangwa National Park.

4 nights and five days in this world-renowned National Park to start off on this one of a kind adventure. Known for numerous and up-close sightings of leopard and lion especially but is also teeming with animals of every kind and size. Located on the banks of the Luangwa river itself. The camps guests are treated to a seemingly non-stop stream of elephant and buffalo that frequent the river in the dry season. Apart from arguably being the highest leopard density on hearth, the South Luangwa also boasts the highest density of hippo in the world that are guaranteed to keep you entertained during the hotter parts of the day and during the nights we spend in what is definitely one of the best game viewing destinations on the continent.

Not to say that Mana Pools is not absolutely teaming with wildlife. Around every corner there seems to be another elephant reaching up too high-to-reach branches, sometimes standing on their back legs to do so, or a herd of buffalo, eland, lions on the hunt or baboons hustling the floodplain floor. The area of Zambezi Expeditions camp is certain to fulfill the need to experience something different as it is mostly all viewed whilst on foot. Safely led away from your jeep, most of the animals of the floodplain area are accustomed to people outside of their jeep. One of Zimbabwe’s finest pro-guides will safely lead you into up close and personal situations where one can view animals on a more personal level and without the confines of a jeep. A truly unique and enriching experience we will spend three nights and four days exploring the floodplain and the breathtaking lights and colors that creep through the canopy of the Albidia forest that runs along it.

After this we end off with another unique yet just as rewarding experience whilst spending two nights and three days at Kanga Camp. Built around an inland water source, in the dry season the action does not stop around this pool of water the tents and deck area look onto. From baboons and warthogs providing nonstop entertainment all day to elephants drinking from the fresher water sometimes only feet from you while you sip your way through and ice-cold beverage. Lions are prolific in the area and regular visits by leopard to the watering hole are expected.  A wonderful and exciting way to end off this truly amazing safari!
